Power failure in Colombo and suburbs

Residents in several areas in Colombo and it's suburbs were hit by a sudden power failure this morning and several attempts made to contact Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Chairman W. B. Ganegala and other CEB officials proved futile.

Meanwhile, CEB officials at Sri Jayawardenapura said the one-hour power failure in Colombo and its suburbs including Battaramulla, Homagama, Panadura and Gampaha was caused by a breakdown in the Norochcholai and the Kerawalapitiya power plants.

Oil prices dropping in the world market - Electricity Tariff to be increased in Sri Lanka !! We will also have power cuts affecting the economy negatively. We have actors, cricketers, drug businessmen, ex-beach boys, crooks and the mafia in parliament and running the country. We are experiencing this in Piliyandala everyday. Why not disconnect power supply completely so we will manage like the stoneage times. We are sick of this power cuts.
