A tense situation prevailed near the Meetotamulla garbage dump this morning as the police removed protesters, who were staging a Satyagraha campaign and blocking access to the garbage site since last Saturday.

Several protestors were reportedly arrested by the police. A large number of police and army personnel were present at the site.
