East evacuated over tsunami

People living in the coastal areas in the East were evacuated to higher ground by the police following a tsunami watch being issued as a result of the 7.5 magnitude earthquake near the Nicobar Islands in the Indian Ocean early this morning.

Our reporters in the area said that police made announcements on the streets while the tsunami warning towers were also activated. (Daily Mirror online)
