Osu Sala to step in during strikes



Government hospital in-house patients could get medicines free of charge on prescriptions from nearby state Osu Sala outlets whenever hospital staff went on strike, the Health Ministry said.  

The Deputy Managing Director, Sales of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) Madura Kuruppu also confirmed to Daily Mirror, that patients with the government hospital medical prescription could get medicines free of charge from Osu Sala outlets during strikes.

Officers in Sri Lanka's state health institutions including nurses and paramedics went on a 48 hour token strike on Wednesday over several demands including an increase in the allowances.

The Colombo District Court, after considering a petition filed by a patient yesterday issued an injunction on the 16 health unions preventing their 48 hour trade union action. (Chaturanga Pradeep-DM Online)
