At least two persons including an Army officer were killed and 31 others injured in two accidents in Nittambuwa and Dambulla, the Police said.In Nittambuwa, one person was killed and three others including a child were injured when their three-wheeler skidded off the road at Thittawelmankada in Nittambuwa on the Colombo-Kandy main road last night.
Police said the injured were admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital and a woman and a child who was in critical condition were later transferred to the National hospital.
In Dambulla, an army officer was killed and 28 persons were injured including two army soldiers after their truck and a bus collided at Inamaluwa junction on the Dambulla-Habarana road this morning.
Police said 25 persons including ten women and a school girl who were on the way to the grade five scholarship exams were on the bus. The injured were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital and a Sergeant Major of the Morawewa Army Camp had died after being admitted to the hospital..(DS)
