OIC arrested in toddy bribe
An Officer-In-Charge of the special investigation unit of the Excise Department had been arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 by the officers of the Bribery Commission today.
The OIC had sought a bribe of Rs. 500,000 from a businessman, who was engaged in toddy production, for not talking legal action, the officers of the Commission said.
They said that the OIC had obtained Rs.450, 000 on an earlier occasion. The suspect is to be produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
