Nine senior superintendents of police (SSP) were promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General by the Inspector General of Police on the recommendation of the National Police Commission with effect from February 1, 2013, Police headquarters announced.

The promoted SSPs as follows:

S.Mahesh Perera (Kelaniya Division), K.E.R.L Fernando (Nugegoda Division), E.K.B.M Perera (Colombo Central), W.A.D.P Ganegama (Kandy Division), B.A.D.N.R Padmasiri (Galle Division), B.P.I Karunaratna (Property Management Division), H.D.K.S Jayasekara (Transport Division), W.W.H.S.K.S Wickramasinghe ( Ministerial security Division), V. Indran (Research & Investigation Division),

Further, the SSP for the Ratnapura Division A.P.G.D.V Gunawardhana is added to the Pending list by the National Police Commission.
