Mr. N.G.P. Panditaratna (91) former chairman of the UNP, the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka and a close confidante of late President J.R. Jayawardene passed away this morning. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.

I have known and worked closely with late Mr. Nanayakkara Gabadage Publis Panditharathne very closly, from the time he functioned a SI at the Maradanand Police Station, rose to high position and took over as the Chief Partner of Ford Rhones and Thornton,anmd a Senior Partner of Associatd Management Searvice, the pioner Management and Audit Firms. He was a gentleman every inch, the caliber of which is very very rarrely rare this day.Serene simple soft spoken Mr. Paditharathne,
was a versatile public sector administrator and a true Patriotic..His beloved Wife Irene,daughter of the fabulously rich Mr.Charlie Kannagra,MP isalso known to be very simple and unassumig ladyb . May Mr. NGPP. attain Nibbana. .
