Mini tornado hits Pitaduwa

At least 20 houses were damaged by a mini tornado which ripped through Pitaduwa Grama Sevaka division in Habaraduwa in the south of the island last evening.

The Disaster Management Centre’s Media Director Sarath Lal Kumara told Daily Mirror that there were no reports of loss of life

A prior warning was issued by the Department of Meteorology last week. The department predicted strong winds at times accompanied by showers. (YP)
