Mangala can be arrested if there is evidence: Magistrate

Matara Magistrate Wasantha Ramyakumara directed the Police to arrest UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera and ten others if there was sufficient evidence.

The Magistrate had said that the Police was at a liberty to arrest the individuals if there were sufficient evidence against them.

There is evidence according to paper reports that Hermon Gunaratne was seen with firearms at the scene of the incident. If that is so he should have been taken into custody in the first instance. Why is he not taken into custody? Is it because he is a Presidential Advisor. At this rate all wrongdoers connected to the powerful people are above the law. This lawlessness is the reason why our country is in the bad books internationally. Even Prince Charles has commented that he is going to take up the matter concerning the murder of the British tourist in down south sometime back.
