Man nabbed while renewing passport

A man was detained by the state Immigration Department for attempting to renew his international passport by using the photograph of a Sri Lankan national who resembled him.

Department director Kamal-ludin Ismail said the 27-year-old man was arrested at 11am yesterday at the Ayer Keroh immigration counter after officials noticed discrepancies between his appearance and the photograph presented.

He said the man confessed that he had been promised RM2,000 by the Sri Lankan to get the passport. (Source: The Star)
