Man drowns in Walawe river

Sevanagala police are conducting investigations over a complaint received that a person was killed by accidentally falling into the Walawe river yesterday, police said.

They said the victim identified as a 35-year-old man from Moraketiya in Embilipitiya had lost his grip while trying to get into the river for a bath after working in a nearby coconut estate.  

His body was recovered and sent to the Embilipitiya Hospital for post mortem.
