A 24-year-old Maldivian student who was produced at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today on charges of having had a ganja cigarette in his possession was released on crown bail.

The student, who is following a course in designing, was arrested on February 3 by the Kollupitiya police. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

promotion or deterrent of tourism? how come foreigners are checked for cigarettes when our own people smoke ganja regardless.

Am not an advocate of ganja promotion but why double standards...?

if any one commit a crime in Sri Lanka he will have to be punished according to the law of this land. Why you want to drag Saudi Arabia and Maldives, if the same crime is committed there the punishment will be according to their laws.
