Former Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene is "very happy" with the "great opportunity" to play for Sussex in the T20 Blast.

The 37-year-old right-hander is "really looking forward" to playing against former team-mate and friend Kumar Sangakkara, who is playing for Surrey.

Jayawardene retired form international cricket after this year's World Cup having scored over 10,000 runs in both Test and one-day international cricket. (BBC)
