At the South Africa-Sri Lanka joint dialogue on reconciliation, External Affairs Minister G.L Peiris said lessons on reconciliation could be learnt from South Africa because the country successfully went through a transition beyond apartheid.
He said these lessons could be applied in Sri Lanka for future policies and practices.
The minister said no one could copy what has been done in another country because each country knows what is best for that particular country.
High Commissioner Geoff Doidge said it was a historic dialogue between the two countries.
Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the chief guest at the inaugural Sri Lanka- South Africa joint dialogue on reconciliation which was organized by the Lakshman Kadiragamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies.(Supun Dias)
