Kolonnnawa UC Chairman gets bail
Kolonnnawa Urban Council Chairman Ravindra Udayashantha who was arrested and remanded on assault charges was released on a surety bail of Rs.100,000 today by the Colombo Additional Magistrate.
Mr. Udayashantha was arrested on charges of assaulting the Council’s Deputy Chairman Suresh Kodagoda.
The Mirihana Police Special Crimes Investigation Unit which investigated the incident informed the Court that it would drop the firearm charge levelled against the suspect.
The detectives said there was no evidence to prove that suspect had used a gun in the assault. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
