If UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had any differences of opinion, UNP senior member, Parliamentarian Karu Jayasuriya said he was ready to discuss them with the party leadership and patch things up, as his main concern was to bring the UNP back to power.

Commenting on media reports that Mr. Wickremesinghe had invited Mr. Jayasuriya and Mr. Sajith Premadasa for a cordial discussion, Mr. Jayasuriya said he was still to receive such an invitation but he was ready to discuss any issue with Mr. Wickremesinghe, as there was nothing they could not get sorted out for the good of the party.

He admitted that the lack of strong leadership in the main opposition UNP had given the government the opportunity to engage in anti-democratic and anti-people acts and added that an opportunity had come to defeat the government in the September PC polls by bringing all peace-loving and democratic forces under UNP.
