An Indonesian maid charged with murdering the infant son of her employers by mixing rat poison into his milk, has been cleared in court. Despite the ruling the baby's parents are insisting on the death penalty for the maid.
Indonesian maid Nurqoyah Bint Marsan Dasan Nuriya, 41, faced the death penalty over charges of murdering four-month old Mishari Al-Bushal, who died in June 2010. The court in Damman ruled that three medical reports did not prove the baby was poisoned and his death may have been due to a genetic condition.
Whilst awaiting trial media reports claimed Nuriya had confessed to killing the infant.
Outrage followed the recent beheading of Sri Lankan maid Rizana Nafeek in Saudi Arabia. Aspersions were cast on the Saudi legal system along with criticism for authorities in Sri Lanka who stood accused of not doing enough to try to save Nafeek.
Authorities in Indonesia though went the extra mile to prevent the execution of Nuriya. Al Saudi Arabia reported "Indonesia created this special task force to protect migrant workers" and employs special attorneys versed in sharia law to fight for the rights of Indonesian migrant workers facing the death penalty.
Nuriya's trial was attended by representatives from the Indonesian Embassy and the Human Rights Commission.
In spite of the court verdict the family of Mishari Al-Bushal are insisting Nuriya is sentenced to death. According to the Saudi Gazette the family intend to appeal the court ruling, insisting the maid confessed to the murder of the infant.
Tensions remain high between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia over the issue of migrant workers rights. (digitaljournal)

Yes Pahan ! That was really stupid to hear what that minister had said. It was so sad to hear about Rizana's fate. She would be free today if our ministry had done their duty accordingly BUT all these stupid morons just think of only themselves. Its a crying shame of what this government is doing to the country. You'll will suffer for your sins.

Our ministers have no time to think about the innocents. They are all brain washed only with impeachment of CJ, Smell movement of Sarath Fonseka and how to defend in UN Human rights council.
They are heroes only inside Sri lanka

My friend, before criticize others that did our country men punished the person who issued the fake passport as 21 when she was 16???Even today fake passport issues in our own govt passport office for money.First should clean here before others. You know why we could not get the Rizana's pardon because government could not open mouth and say the Saudi she is minor age and came in genuine passport with fake age details.First questioned and arrest the passport commissioner General if we were to sort out matters like this.

Sharia laws were not given by Allah ( An illusion) but by associates of prophet and clerics came after him They are not written ones The judges do not have proper legal education but religious taught. The judge who tries the case in the first court comes for appeal court too. There is no uniformity in judgments. The judges do not follow their own judgments In this case, she did the crime with a motive. Rizana's case was an accident. She was butchered in a cruel manner in the name of religion she was not properly defended.

The trouble with our government is that it has big mouth, utters lies and opens wide when not needed. The women we send to Middle East are fodder to feed the and keep the cabinet of ministers in luxurious life style.
