Govt ready to protect Hashan
Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has promised security to Hashan Tillekaratne if the former Sri Lanka cricket captain is ready to reveal the names of those involved in match fixing since 1992 as alleged by Tillkaratne earlier, Sports Ministry stated in a release today.
The Minister had asked Tillakaratne to submit a written request for security to the Inspector General of Police.
The Minister had promised in the communiqué that the government will pay special attention in providing Tillakaratne with security if divulges information as he has promised.
Aluthgamage has also pointed out that it is the duty of Tillakaratne to safeguard the image of cricket in Sri Lanka by revealing the identities of those involved in match fixing, for the betterment of the sport.
