FR case on CJ’s appointment: CPA wants full bench

The fundamental rights petition filed by the Centre for Policy Alternative (CPA) challenging the appointment of Mohan Peiris as Chief Justice was put off by the Supreme Court on a request made by the petitioner for a full bench

The petitioner in a motion filed in Court stated that in view of Chief Justice Mohan Peiris, being cited as a respondent he was not in a position to nominate a Bench to hear the petition and therefore wanted it to be heard by a bench comprising all Supreme Court Judges.

The case will be taken up on March 5.
