Four year old boy kidnapped

Police are investigating the kidnapping of a four year old boy named Damindu Yasen Ekanayake and an attack on his parents in Katugampalagama village in the Meegalewa Division.The Meegalewa Police said that four persons wearing masks had forcibly entered the victims’ house on Monday.
Four persons had come on two motor cycles. They had caused knife injuries to the neck of the chief occupant Mahinda Kumara, a rice miller, and cut the leg of his wife Shiromi Sudeshika.
The kidnappers have not demanded any ransom. The child’s whereabouts are unknown.
His parents want to get their child and are willing to pay a ransom.
The Galgamuwa, Giribawa and Meegalewa Police are conducting investigations.
The couple’s eldest daughter Yasodhara Sandamini, who was also present, said, “My mother went and opened the door after hearing the sound of a motor cycle. Four persons wearing helmets stabbed my mother. My father tried tograb the knife and they stabbed him in the neck. They took my younger brother by force and rode off.
The intruders had held the householder at knife point and tried to enter the house. The man had grappled with the intruders. They had also tried to stab Yashodara Sandamini, but her mother managed to protect her The injured parents had been rushed to Meegalewa Hospital and discharged after treatment.
Police have recovered two knives, believed to have been used in the crime, from the house. No goods have been removed from the house. The police have not made any headway in solving the crime. (Sanjeewa Ratnayaka and Athula Bandara)
