Four injured in Panadura



Four persons including a woman were seriously injured when a trishaw and a motorcar collided head on in Mahawila in Panadura this morning.

Police said the trishaw transporting a woman from Horana to Panadura had collided with the car and  the bicycle from the opposite direction. The drivers of the two vehicles, the passenger on board the trishaw, and the cyclist were injured and admitted to the Panadura hospital.

Inquiries revealed that a driver who parked a van by the roadside opened the door haphazardly and the driver of the trishaw in his attempt avoid an accident had passed the crown of the road and collided with the car and knocked down the cyclist.

The residents of the area said the driver of the van whose haphazard opening of the door resulted in the accident, sped away without any concerned about the injured.

Meanwhile a car hit the rear of a bus that reduced speed at the scene of the incident. The car and the bus were both damaged.
