Four killed, 40 injured in accident

A head on collision between a passenger bus and a lorry at Ibulpe in Balangoda this evening killed four people and injured at least 40 others, Police spokesman SP Pryshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

Of the four killed two were women and all were passengers of the bus. The injured were admitted to the Balangoda and Ratnapura hospitals. (YP)

Looks like there is no end to these accidents by bus drivers. Are they driving under the influence of liquor or without proper sleep?

Everyday we hear about accidents..... Actually, now adays all the time we find lot of who are driving recklessly on the road. The Traffic police should do something for this. The thing is most of the drivers are not caring about the road rules nothing.......Whenever a driver does a road rule vialation, on the spot there should be a large fine somthing like 25000 rupees. If this large fine scheme is in the practice, I hope automatically the drivers will follow road rules.........

a system must be in place where the Police have no option but to charge them in courts. The worst offenders are buses 3wheelers and m.cyclists.

No of accidents and deaths on the roads per mile of road in SL is a world record like the No of Ministers in the government per million citizens in the country. The root course for these accidents is bad driving by generations of drivers who have obtained their driving permits by bribe.

The traffic police should take the responsibility for the increase in road accident's. If we are to curtail this situation, they should stand in crucial point's and change their posting from time to time and should introduce a fine to be charged on the spot by issueing an official receipt. The fine should be quite a big amount so that people will think twice in breaking the road rules and at the same time police personal who resort to taking bribes should be dealt with strongly.
