Four suspects were arrested on charges of operating a brothel at Sangaraja Mawatha in Maradana by the Walana Police Crime Division yesterday, Police said.

The arrests were made under a special search warrant was issued by Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court,

The manager of the guest house and three women were arrested for engaging in prostitution and handed over to the Keselwatta Police.

The suspects, residents of Passara, Moneragala, Walapane and Rambukkana, had pleaded guilty to the charges, Police said.

The suspects were produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Two million rupees in fine was imposed on the manager for managing a brothel and the suspected woman were released on Rs.500 fine each for engaging in prostitution.
