Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogallagama and the British High Commissioner Peter Hayes held discussions on Monday on the possibility of acquiring the British High Commission premises, sources within the Foreign Ministry told Daily Mirror.

During this dialogue, the two officials are said to have discussed, among other matters, the interest of the Foreign Ministry in procuring the former British High Commission premises located on Galle Road, Colombo 3.

According to sources, when the British High Commission shifted to its current location in Baudhaloka Mawatha Colombo 7, the new premises were made available on censes ional terms by the Government of Sri Lanka.

However, since the disposal of the Colombo 3 property of the High Commission is still under process, the possibility of procuring the premises by the Foreign Ministry is being discussed with the British High Commission.

When Daily Mirror contacted the British High Commission on this matter, they refused to comment.
