Kandy Colombo should have at least 4 lane highway if not 6, it takes 5 hours to drive to Colombo from Kandy on a normal day. all heavy vehicle ,busses , 3 wheelers , bicycles using the same way and its horrible to drive and such waste of time and discomfort

we can't calculate the benefit just by considering the revenue from the toll. The real benefit is the economic development that is associated with improved infrastructure facilities. The road had cost 77 Billion( 77,000,000,000). If a day's collection is 5 Million after the maintaining expenses of Rs 3 Million , we will have a surplus of Rs 2 Million (Best Case Scenario). If you have to recover the 77 billion , we need to open the road for 38500days. ( 77 B / 2 M). That is we can recover the capital after 105 Years ( 38500/365). This is possible if we have borrowed Interest free loan.

Once again we can't measure the benefit from only the toll collection.

4500 vehicles has used on first day of Southern Expressway and Government has earned RS 1,000,000 from it. It is expected that 5000 vehicles will use it everyday.
This highway will reduce the distance between Galle and Colombo at least b...y 15 Km and 2 hours time.

A vehicle can save at least 3 liters of fuel and it will save Rs 2,225,000/ per day for the country.
If 2 persons travelling on a vehicle it will save at least 4 man hours per vehicle it will save 20,000 man hours per day. @ 125/hour it will value 2,500,000.00 per day

365 X 4.75 million

It will save Rs 1.7 billion per year.

don't worry about volume, with the economy growing very fast we will soon reach the capacity of this road 5000 vehicles per hour. we need to monitor traffic levels very carefully so we can have stage 2 implemented (6 lane expansion), before we reach those traffic levels.
