The Department of Post will mark the World Post Day with the official launch of its express mail service tomorrow with several innovative facilities provided to users, Post Master General Rohana Abeyratne said.

The chief guest will be Posts Minister Jeewan Kumaratunga.

“With the service upgrade, which comes into operation from November 1, a person residing anywhere in the country will be able to receive parcels or mails within 24 hours,” he said.

For the operation of the new system, the department has identified areas where the delivery of mails can be handled in six hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. (Chaturanga Pradeep)

In our country, there is no point in introducing any such product to the people without first educating the persons at the counters to treat all customers with absolute service, politely. I was in a NZ post office sending a parcel to Sri Lanka and did not know the system very well. I was treated with utmost courtesy and assisted totally and at the end of it the counter assistant asked, "are you happy Sir, is there anything more I can do for you?"
We need change of SERVICE ATTITUDES.

The service in SL is like a third world d-grade serivce. Only first world countries like NZ and Aus treat their customers well.
