The European Union today decided to support the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka at the forthcoming UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva, an official document said.
The document, which was adopted by the EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, reads that, “the EU will also support efforts aimed at keeping the issues of accountability and reconciliation as well as the current human rights situation in Sri Lanka on the agenda of the Human Rights Council.”
The Council's conclusions stress the importance of addressing key human rights concerns in Syria, Mali, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Sudan and South Sudan.

the resolution does not matter since we are so well strategically tied up with China and Russia. As Dishanthi, US should bring a resolution to them selves for killing civillians in Middle East and Africa in the name of Fight against terrorism aka fight for OIL.

Whatever the fake "super patriots" may say, it is obvious to what extent we have alienated the world community with the loose talk and false bravado of politicians who suffer from verbal diahorrea. How about inquiring into the recent human rights violations in Libya, Egypt, Drone attacks on civilians in Pakistan, torture in Guantanamo bay or even going back in time, Vietnam ? How about human rights violations in all the middle eastern countries where there is absolutely no freedom to practice the religion of your choice ? Or is investigating " human rights violations" limited to beating up countries without sufficient political clout or natural resources ( like petroleum) ?
