CTSU challenges Keheliya for open debate

Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union general secretary, Mahinda Jayasinghe today challenged government media spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to come for an open debate to discuss about five issues including the allegations regarding the grade five scholarship examination.Speaking at media briefing Jayasinghe said that instead of mud slinging it would be appropriate to debate about the issue regarding the scholarships examination paper, the allegations about him not being a teacher and the police’s behaviour in the investigations about the exam paper leak .
“The government media tried to show that I denied the allegations I made myself when I was questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). I did not do such a thing and I stand by the statements I made. I only went to the CID upon the fourth telephone call because I was having doubts since I did not receive a summoning letter” he said.
Referring to the statements where it has been allegedly said that he is not a teacher Jayasinghe said that in 2009 he was interdicted from the teaching service but added that the allegations were based on political revenge. (Sarasi Paranamanna)
