Conspiracy against Basil within Govt: UNP

United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said there was a conspiracy against Minister Basil Rajapaksa from within the government itself.

Mr. Attanayake was responding to a question posed by the media which asked Mr. Attanayake to respond to a statement made by Minister Basil Rajapaksa about the absence of a strong opposition which could pose a political threat to the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government.

“He can’t make such statements sitting on a pedestal because history has shown us that people who had made such statements had crashed to the ground,” he said. (HF)
