Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake wrote to Speaker Chaml Rajapaksa urging him to take action against some of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) members who had allegedly insulted her during the impeachment probe.
Writing through her lawyers Neelakandan and Neelakandan, the CJ complained that the gestures made and mannerisms displayed by some of the members of the PSC were totally unacceptable.
Writing in detail the alleged defaming words used by the PSC members, the CJ asked the Speaker to take appropriate action against them.
“We trust you will agree that such behaviour is inappropriate in any circumstances. It must be even more so when the respondent is the Chief Justice of the country and a lady at that,” the lawyers claimed. (Susitha R. Fernando)

This shows the ignorance of the CJ and her lawyers. All statements made in Parliament whether in a parliamentary sitting of through a delegated body such as a committee is PRIVILEGED and no one can question such statements. Do we have a CJ who does not know the law or is she trying to play to the gallery?

I think every woman has a sad feeling after reading this. if this is the Asia's wonder we have to silentely accept it. living in a foregn land i never heard this kind of abuse by japanese mens, and they behave really like samuris.. when i come to sri lanka from the air port sri lankans mens use slang words when ever i go outside from my hometown then there are word like jokes, hints, so the things are never changed. "meyata godak adamla innwa",those who said this statement please read an historical relation of the island of ceylon by Robert Knox thoughrly. when i came last august the country is a mess. 30 yers with the war it seems to me 30 years backward. I am really soory for chief justice, so I ask everyone to bring the sexual harrsement law, domestic violence law, tough laws for those who rape women,I ask sri lankan mens to behave like samurai worriors, What is the beauty of a man ? Please reply sri lankan mens . It's really disgusting, nature wii give the answer I think

Though the speaker is also from the same gut, the seat he is sitting does not belong to them. So he has to answer, and that answer will reflect on him, and the reflection will be passed to history. Reactions of this nature are musts today against the irregularities of this rotten politicians.

Whoever insult a woaman - he is a cowered. Especially if you are a member of the most supreme place of the country call legislature, they have to be extra careful of their behaviuor. Speaker should take immediate action if this is true. CJ must have contempt the legislature by walking out , but fisrt thing is first - that's decipline and decorum.
