While stating that Sri Lanka is looking forward to hosting the Indian Prime Minister at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November, the External Affairs Ministry yesterday declined to comment on the resolution passed by Tamil Nadu urging him to cancel his visit.
“It is an internal matter and India is a mature and vibrant state and is also a regional leader. We believe that the Indian Government will take an appropriate decision after considering all options,” External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunathilake Amunugama said.
“We however, look forward to hosting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and have made all preparations to give all heads of state visiting the country a warm and hospitable welcome that Sri Lanka is well-known for,” he said.
