The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that measures will be taken to switch off 50% of all street lamps countrywide with effect from August 1 in order to save electricity.

Knock off 100% during the daytime (I have seen lights on the Galle road on even at 12 noon) and you might be able to keep more lights on at night.

Sri Lanka will never change if poeple will not unite and make noices, as far as people are silent, public will suffer for life.

public sould unite and boycott the matches to show the gov and the world about sri lanka's situation/development.

in this kind of situation, gov is building a huge sports city in hambantota , public tax money is worsted in unecessry investment.

contry to develop there should be honest and educated rulers in the contry. Here all are tugs and robbers.

way to go , even 2050 it will be same or worst...

I live in Dubai and every year I visit could see every thing same...or getting worst , no development.

country should consentrate on sports when people living standard are lifted , unless people of country do not have money country will never develop....who will spend???

Already, more tha 50% of street lights are not on in the night. If CEB ensure that street lights are switched of during day time there is no need for such drastic measures, Anyway we are coming back to 1970-77 era and it won't be surprising if there are no street lights at all.

Don't do that, just switch off all street lamp by 6.00 am. I staqy down on Sinsapa Road, Wellawatte, where sinsapa road street lamp get switched off by 8.00 or little early in the morning daily. if you take action on the worker who do switching off job, you can save a lot of energy.
