The reason for carpeting this stretch is cos of the motor races which is to be held 1st week of December.

while it is good to see the main artery in the country is being resurfaced, one must realize that Galle Road is a relatively well maintained road compared to so many other roads that are in dire straits that need urgent repairs.
Guess unless night races are held in those roads they won't receive any repairs.
