Car falls into Mahaweli

A car travelling along the Mawilmada Road plunged into the Mahaweli River killing the driver at a spot near the sea plane landing site adjoining the Polgolla reservoir this morning, the Katugastota police said.

They said the victim was identified as 36-year-old Duminda Wijekoon who was a resident of Jambugahapitiya.
The police said there was no reason for this motor car travel on this road on that particular day.

Katugastota police personnel had pulled out the car and the body out of the water after an operation that lasted an hour.
Investigations are been conducted by Katugastota Police.
