Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal's son Chatura V. Cabraal has declined appointment as a non-executive director to Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills PLC (MGT), a stock exchange disclosure said.

On December 3, last year MGT's director board announced that Chathura had been appointed to the company's board with effect from December 1, 2012.

However, the disclosure which was released to Colombo Stock Exchange last Friday noted Chathura has conveyed his regrets that he is not in a position to take up the director post of the company.

"In circumstances, the appointment of Mr.Cabraal to Directorate of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills PLC will for all purposes cease to take effect," the filing said.

Chathura is a graduate with honours in mechanical engineering with a focus in manufacturing and design from the University of Missouri Science and Technology.

The Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc director board comprises Mohan Pandithage (Chairman), Emerick Fernando (CEO and Executive Director), R. Seevaratnam, Dhammika Perera, J.A.G. Anandarajah, H. Somashantha, N. Somaratne, R.P. Pathirana and S. Piyawardena.

He seems to be having some sense in him. There are young bright stars at Hayleys who deserve similar status, for e.g. Sri Lanka's youngest ever PhD, also, works for Hayleys.
