It is time to educate the private bus drivers and conductors. They have to be made to get a license by sitting for a examination conducted by the SLTB. The SLTB bus c are still a lot better than the private bus crews.

The roads are not bad. The buses and the drivers are the problem.
1. Bus drivers need education, attitude and responsibility. Either we should teach them or punish them through fine tickets
2.The buses are huge. If government can make initiative to replace the entire fleet of Tata and Leyland buses with modern Micro (better for country's economy) or some other modern buses, and enforce them to stick to the left most lane would solve the problem. We can take them to countries like Singapore to show them how the buses are driven.
3.Ensure everyone follow the traffic rules. Reduce the interference of the police

If we don't address this with priority, we will end up brewing a disaster for everyone.

These bus drivers know where the police officers are standing & they drive carefully on their vicinity. Traffic police should use ordinary vehicles to catch those who drive carelessly. In New york I saw an ordinary Taxi is used by the traffic police.

a) Stop heavy vehicles plying during the day
b) Fine the buses taking the fast lane
c) Make proper bus stands facility to halt buses without disturbing the traffic.
d) Do not allow buses to keep the bus in the halt waiting for passengers. It should be allowed only at the starting point. Most accidents take place as the drivers halt and go slows until the last few halts to complete. In last few halts, they are really in a horse race.
e) Tickets are not issued though notice displayed to claim a ticket. In order to inform of violators, a number can be mentioned with that notice, public can inform such malpractices by SMS or call to the number given for swift action.

Send a plane load of our intelligent ministers to the West on a study tour and let them come and teach our drivers how to drive
