Bank robbed by gunmen in face-covered helmets

Two armed motorcyclists wearing full-face helmets have robbed Rs.1 million from a private bank at Attidiya in Ratmalana today.

The Police said the men had assaulted the security guard and escaped on their motorcycle after grabbing the money from the cashier.

Bank workers said they were threatened by the men and the security guard had been hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries to his head.

The Police said that the motorcycle had already been identified and a special investigation had been launched with the collaboration of Kohuwela and Dehiwela Police Stations based on the CCTV footage.

Face-covered motor cycle helmets should have been banned immediately. Instead of waiting for an auspicious time in March. There is going to be more bank robbers and gold chain snatchers wearing full faced helmets. I think the police are naive for not taking quick actions in this matter.
