All students who sat the the GCE Ordinary Level Science paper this year will get full marks for the 19 multiple choice questions that were leaked to a section of candidates, Education Minister Bandula Gunwardena said today.The Minister said the CID inquiry confirmed that the Science paper had been leaked. He said the since allegations were proven, the department had decided to award full marks to students instead of rescheduling the examination.
The Minister also said that a special examination will be held on February 9 and 10 for students who were unable to sit for the Math paper & Aesthetic subjects due to inclement weather. (KB)

So if paper number two had leaked out, would it be full marks too? Bad enough the education system has gone to the dogs, they cannot even guard the exam papers. God knows what they have in store for us next year.

This is not fair by the good students. There will not be many failures of Science this time. This paper leaks may be a chronic problem in a society where even ones honesty has a prize!

At last you have admitted. You are head of the Department of Examination. When similar incident happen in other countries "Head" resigns. What we feel is why head resigning is, he or she is not capable to the post. You have done soo many blunders during your period. So that is why we say you, TO RESIGN.

He he this is a joke, recall last 3years exams each of them had a issue, remember these are not minor you people are playing with our children!! You should have resigned by now, this is simple when a tuition master becomes the minister of education this is what happens !! Expect the worse ppl, god bless the people of Sri Lanka !!

I have to bring to the light of all DM readers of a hotel that was opened recently. It has the best menus in the world, made to the taste buds of very rich people. The interesting part is, the menus are made of cows' or horses' dung and believed to increase the brain power until it reaches common sense. I will like to try this when I get demented; at present I am poor and have some common sense and this makes me ineligible to be considered.

What's the point in screaming and shouting at the minister for all the mistakes. Instead we should find the mindless idiot who did this and give him the maximum punishment. This way we should stop this kind of situations happening in the future.

Public has knowledge of only the 19 questions leaked. What about all the 'OTHER LEAKS' that we are not aware of......some that did not go to the majority of students but only to a selected few and the public are unaware of. The state of educaiton and public exams in SL is SAD!

the best is to mark the paper to 100 without considering those 19 questions. otherwise it is sheer stupidity to give 19 marks for all students. what about the students who have studied well for the exam //////////////////////

Does he at least now admit that his solution he found in last August against leaking of examination papers by prohibiting tutition classes two weeks before major exmination was just a foolish idea. In sinhala it is called "atheesareta amuda gahanawa" That is the only thing these politicians know.

This is a very sad day for Sri Lanka. Corruption has trickled down to the even an examination paper. This is due to poor governess. Would have seen a few resignation in a civilized country if such a thing had occurred.

We have never seen a minister like you who did not know what to do and when. Instead of bringing the culprits before justice and doing every thing possible to prevent happening such thing in the future, you are giving full marks to all students who sat for that subject. It is a funny way of resolving problems. What is wrong with you? Are you out of your mind?

Thoroughly incompetent to do his job but will still stick to his chair. What a shame, Why not leak all the examination papers next year and award full marks for everyone - in fact, why bother the students at all to come to an examination hall, let them stay at home and earn full marks.
