Awareness programmes on the use of Social Media

A broad programme has been formulated by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) to create awareness among parents, teachers and students on the use of the Internet and Social Media Websites, such as facebook, twitter, in a manner that will be beneficially to all, CERT|CC Information Security Engineer Roshan Chandragupta said.He said for the past two years, CERT in collaboration with the education ministry, had been engaged in making people in the rural areas aware of the good and bad sides of social media.
Mr. Chandragupta said special attention had been paid to students in the preparation of this series of programmes, which highlighted the importance of privacy and security in the use of social media networks.
He said in future the Education Ministry might include the use of social media networks as a subject in Information Technology. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
