Ashley De Silva has been appointed acting Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket from April 1 to fill the vacancy created with the current CEO Ajith Jayasekara being appointed Tournament Director of the Sri Lanka Premier League.

Speaking to Daily Mirror Online, SLC Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said SLC advertised for applications and the appointment of Bandula Warnapura to the post of CEO was given serious considerations but because of policy concerns Mr. De Silva was appointed instead.

Mr. De Silva functioned as SLC Director of Operations before his appointment as acting CEO.

Sources said Mr. De Silva will be under probation and if his performance was up to required standards his appointment will be on a permanent basis. (HF)
