A/L candidate killed in train mishap

A schoolgirl appearing for the GCE Advanced Level examination had been knocked down and killed by the Badulla bound freight train this morning at Watagoda, the Police said.

The victim, Vellasamy Priya (19) from Dimbula Estate had left home in the morning for Badulla to appear for the examination.

She was taken by the train to Nanu Oya but was pronounced dead on admission, sources said.

Dimbula – Pathana Police are conducting further investigations. (Shelton Hettiarachchi)
