Youth killed, another injured in Boralesgamuwa shooting

A 25-year-old youth was killed and another injured in a shooting incident that took place on Malani Bulathsinhala Mawatha in Boralesgamuwa early this morning (24).

Police said the shooting occurred at around 12.30 a.m. while nine people, including the victim, were walking along the road after attending a music show in the area. The gunman, who arrived in a three-wheeler, opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The deceased, identified as Gihan Dulan Perera from Mount Lavinia, died from gunshot injuries. The injured individual was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting stemmed from an argument during the music show. Police said both parties involved are believed to be members of an organised gang.

Boralesgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect.
