Young woman drowns, another missing in Kirinda

A woman drowned and another was reported missing after they were carried away by a wave while enjoying a stroll along the beach at Kirinda, Police said.

The body of one of the missing women was recovered this afternoon.

The victims, Sandani Dhananjaya Rajapakse from Welipottayaya in Bibila and Probodhika Kaushanlaya from Seenigoda in Bibila were about 18 years of age and the former was married.

They had gone on a picnic to Kirinda with several other relatives.

Police had launched a search for the other disappeared woman. (Dileep Jayasekara)

What is happening ? So many such tragedies are happening in Sri Lanka. The experts who know about the way the water behaves are Physicists or Mathematicians with PhD in Fluid Mechanis or Fluid Dynamics. In Sri Lanka there are no such experts, what Sri Lanka have in plenty are “Doctors and Engineers”. The Sri Lankan government must contact leading countries like China,America,or Britain and invite either Physists or Mathematicians to come and study why Sri Lankan waters are so dangerous even when for people walking along the beach.

kirinda is not a safe place to have a sea a bath. This area consists of numerous huge rocks where the sea waves are very rough. Therefore anybody who is going on excursions Kirinda should be vigilant and cautious
