Working on schedules to hold the GCE A/L, O/L, grade 5 exams next year: Minister

We are already working on schedules to conduct the GCE Advanced Level (A/L), Ordinary Level (O/L) and grade five scholarship examination dates that have already been announced by the Examinations Department, Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said. 

Addressing the media, the minister said the grade five examination will be held on the third week of January, A/L exam will be held at the end of the first week and the O/L exam will be held at the end of May.

The examinations will be held according to the health guidelines assuring the safety of the students, the minister said.

The university entrance period will be reduced by about ten months after the A/L examinations. Therefore, the examinations department would release the A/L results as early as possible to reduce the university entrance period. The appropriate steps will be taken by the ministry next year, the Minister said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
