Former minister Wimal Weerawansa said that most stupid politicians think that the Geneva Human Rights Council is the place that serves justice to human rights issues.

"This is another tool by US’s imperialist forces. They try to trap those who evade their mechanisms. Since Sri Lanka defeated separatism they are adding pressure on us," Weerawansa said.

There are many reasons that Politicians goes to Geneva Human Rights Council, the main reason is there is no independent institutions establishes in Sri Lanka. Political influence play major roles in government institutions. Most of the politicians including Wimal Weerawansa have to take the responsibility of what has happened to the country and the institutions.
