Colombo, Sept. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said in Parliament that he stands firmly for protecting the rights of the Palestinian people because it is just and fair.
He emphasised that the peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine as two independent countries is the official policy and programme of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
Premadasa said that the Palestinian people are currently facing state terrorism from Israel, with civilians—including children, mothers and women—being subjected to genocide in the Gaza Strip.
He strongly condemned these acts of genocide, stressing that until the rights of the Palestinian people are secured and the murderous culture of state terrorism, including the bombing of hospitals, comes to an end, his party will not maintain any friendship or association with those who practice such brutality.
He further reiterated that this is the unwavering policy and position of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, and no external influence can alter it.
He called for an immediate end to the mass killings and targeted attacks on the Palestinian people.
