Colombo, March 6 (Daily Mirror) - A wild elephant in the Kekirawa area is reportedly exhibiting unusual behaviour—knocking on doors at night and becoming aggressive when residents do not open them.

The incident was reported from the Shasthrawelliya area in Kekirawa.

According to the locals, the elephant has been approaching houses at night, knocking on doors, and attempting to get them opened. When residents fail to respond, the elephant attacks and breaks down the doors.

In a recent incident, residents heard knocking on their main door late at night. When they looked out the window, they were shocked to see a wild elephant outside. Terrified, they hid in a room inside the house. After persistently knocking for a while, the elephant eventually broke the door, grabbed part of the door frame along with the lock and key, and fled toward the Kalawewa National Park.

In addition to damaging the door, the elephant also destroyed a nearby banana plantation.

The house affected by the incident belongs to Gamini Rajapaksa, a resident of the Shasthrawelliya area.
