Tamil People’s National Alliance (TPNA) MP C.V. Wigneswaran said he considers President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the best candidate among the others.
Making his remarks to the media after the parliamentary session today, he said the President talked to him in the parliamentary complex but declined to divulge what was discussed.
He said he considers the President as the best candidate among the current aspirants.

Just remember that RW is the strategist, who through his strategic maneuvering divided up the LTTE North from the East during the ceasefire period he negotiated. That was the start of the downfall and crumbling of the LTTE's grip. He has not been given credit for this strategic move as a few people wanted to claim all the glory. Had he been allowed to continue his approach by CBK without sabotaging it, we may have had the desired long term outcome without the additional high human life toll on both sides of the conflict.

RW never got a decent chance to implement his vision for the country. His own self serving party men, constantly pulled his leg at every turn. Opposition did their best to tarnish his image. Interestingly, he was the only priminister who got vilified for his actions with all powerfull presidens above him ruling the country, in the past, despite pulling the country out of an economic mess in 2001

If he is the Best Candidate for the Presidency what has he be doing for the last donkeys years holding responsible positions in the Cabinet and the most number of being Prime Minister and it shows that he has been like RIP Van Winkle the fairy tale been asleep for so many years and got up when bankcruptcy has taken hold of the country. There are more dynamic candidates vying for the Presidential portfolio who have not been given an opportunity who may outsmart the longtime contenders. RW may be the ideal presidential candidate for extremist and opportunistic groups like this guy but not for the general public of this country. You can also join Ranil, Mahinda, Gota, Chandrika and Sirisena at the upcoming election. This clearly shows the similarities between the leaders elected by the people in both North and Sounth over time to lead the country. This is the year to change this trend.

Birds of a feather. Ranil ruined a golden chance under Yahapalanaya rule and straighten things up leading the country in the right path. Similarly, Wigneswaran, wasted a good opportunity as the CM, to develop the North by doing nothing other than empty resolutions and retuning back money to Central govt.
