Colombo, August 26 (Daily Mirror) - A medical board comprising six specialist doctors from the National Hospital informed court that the suspect’s present health condition was serious and that he should be examined under a medical review by such a board. The doctors further warned that failure to do so could pose a risk to the suspect’s life.

After considering these submissions, the Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura said that a special circumstance had arisen in favour of the suspect and accordingly granted him bail.

The suspect was also ordered not to interfere with the investigations or exert any influence on witnesses.

On the scale of crimes and abuse of power in Sri Lanka, the alleged infraction can be traced to trivial, and the person charged is, even to a child, will be deemed unlikely to abscond the next hearing date. Ranil should have been released on his own recognisance. He is deemed to be innocent person when charged, and it is the duty of the State to provide particulars to the judge for any conviction. On the face of it, it appears to be a case of reimbursement for personal use to travel to Wolverhampton. He is always entitled to security details.

Good time to review the medical submission process for judicial directives, a positive outcome will hopefully avoid all political scoundrels who intend circumventing the law and skipping imprisonment, to face justice in its purest form.

All politicians fall seriously ill when remanded and miraculusly become super fit on release from jail. Also why do politicians always end up in hospital when remanded and the common thief does not fall ill and prison authoriies don't care as well. In future all prisnors remanded should be sent to hospital and ICU like all politicians , if we are to have an equal society.
